…To Let The Sun Shine In
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has stopped by the blog, shared the link with friends and neighbors and who have been kind enough to participate by leaving comments. It is exciting to know we are not alone in our concern for this town and that others are willing to join us in holding our government accountable.
The sun is rising on our efforts, and soon the light will be shining down the street and into our town hall as well.
Our blog has been up and running for one week. Since then, each day a new name and another new Lake Park friend has come our way. We are finding each other quickly! Together our efforts will be more productive and our voices will grow louder. Let’s turn up the volume! It makes us stronger when we know others are with us as we attempt to create a more accountable, inviting and vibrant Lake Park.
Some of you may want to help but don’t know what you can do. Well, we’ll have none of that! Below you will find both an upcoming event and an opportunity which you might like to consider. These may be just what you need to get motivated, get moving and get out there. No excuses, here are two opportunities.
Get Informed – Be Encouraged
and Do Something!
July 9th and 10th, this Saturday night and Sunday morning, David Barton of Wallbuilders will be speaking at all of Christ Fellowship’s services in Palm Beach Gardens. This is a fantastic opportunity! Do not miss it! A friend gave me the heads up on this and I am so grateful because it is a privilege to have David Barton speaking here in our area. He is an incredibly insightful man with vast knowledge of our nation’s founding…. and he knows his stuff like you would not believe. Attending this event would be a great precursor to next Wednesday’s town meeting and shore us up in our quest to keep our local government accountable.
Christ Fellowship Gardens Campus service times:
Saturday, July 9th, at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday July 10th, at 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:12 p.m.
Here is a link to the Christ Fellowship website in case you would like to contact them for more information.
We also have another opportunity for you! A new group has been formed by John Mede called:
Lake Park Citizens Requiring Accountability from Politicians (CRAP)
What is Lake Park CRAP you may ask? According to John, it is a group of residents who will be aware of town actions and activities and who will look at how decisions are arrived at as well as the implications of those decisions. Lake Park Citizens Requiring Accountability from Politicians (CRAP) will share information with all concerned. CRAP will flow freely and be all over town. My hope is that we can fill Commission meetings with CRAP. With the town full of CRAP, Lake Park Commissioners won’t have to strain to get things to pass. A healthy dose of CRAP should be waiting for the new mayor and commissioner to welcome them on July 13th at the Special Town Meeting. Filling the seats with CRAP will require the Commission to alter their behavior. They will realize they can’t take CRAP for granted. After all, it was CRAP that put them there. “I’m asking you to join me,” says John, “and become a piece of CRAP.” If we get our CRAP together, Lake Park just may be able to find the relief it desperately needs. If you would like information or to become a member, please contact John Mede at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks again to each of you for getting the word out about the blog. Through it we hope to stay connected, keep each other motivated and pass along information that will be of interest. Please send me any news from the street where YOU live or information about things you feel others in town need to know, and we will try to get it into the blog as soon as we can. If someone deserves some credit in your neighborhood, let us know. We would most definitely like to give credit where credit is due!
Also, later today, or tomorrow, I hope to be posting some documents that may be of help to you as you begin asking those questions we talked about yesterday. They may aid in your quest to get informed and involved.
Please continue to pass our site link along and don’t forget that we would love to see you all at our town meeting on Wednesday July 13th, at 7:00 p.m. I’m thinking it could get interesting, especially since we are expecting a load of CRAP to show up.
And…make sure to take advantage of the opportunity to go and hear David Barton at one of the services Saturday night or Sunday morning at Christ Fellowship!
