Winding Down With The Sunset

It’s the last Friday of the month and you know what that means. Oh. You don’t? Well, it means that there will be a town-wide gathering at the Marina tonight. It’s a chance to wind down in the company of other folks from Lake Park and take in the beauty of South Florida by the water’s edge, all while the sun dips low and the lights begins to glow across the water. You’ll find the Lake Park Harbor Marina at 105 Lake Shore Drive.

The Sunset Celebration offers food, music, vendors, art displays, a cash bar and more than likely some beautiful weather and the kind of waterside scenery that makes for a calming start to what should be a fine Spring weekend in South Florida.

By the way, at the last town meeting, during the discussion about holding the Sunday Market year round and switching it to Friday nights for part of the year, deliberation was had about what to do when it coincides with the Sunset Celebration. Several ideas were brought up, including talk of combining the two down at the Marina. However, no one suggested moving the Sunset Celebration up to Kelsey Park, lakeside, for those weekends. Did I doze off and miss that? It  would make for a nice change of pace and might perhaps attract some new interest to both the Market and the Sunset Celebration. The two events could operate side by side for those weekends and give the folks by the Marina a break from all the activity for a while. Just a thought.

Thanks again to George Tanguay for the breathtaking images he shared with us this week. They have added so much to the site, and I’m grateful for the visual boost. If anyone else has a story or any images you’d like to share with our readers about Lake Park (be they from events, sights around town, scenery, or whatnot) please feel free to send them along to commonsenselp@yahoo.com and we’ll work them in as is fitting.

Don’t forget, parking is free at the Sunset Celebration tonight from 6:00 to 8 p.m. Enjoy!
